Terms of Service
In short
Phinneas helps you put apps you make (often with an AI) onto your own devices and the devices of people you choose. Phinneas is in beta: it’s free, it’s still changing, and things may break.
Your apps stay yours. You’re responsible for what they do and who you share them with. Don’t use Phinneas for anything harmful or illegal. Keep your own copy of anything important.
1.Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms are an agreement between you and Phinneas, an independent project run from India (“Phinneas”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Phinneas website, dashboard, installers, the apps it prepares for you, the share and install pages, and the connection your AI tool uses (together, “the service”).
By making an account or using the service you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Acceptable Use Policy. If you use Phinneas for an organisation, you confirm you’re allowed to accept these terms for it.
2.The beta
Phinneas is an early, beta product. While it’s in beta:
- It’s free. We won’t charge you for anything during the beta. If paid plans start later, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before and you’ll choose whether to pay. Nothing switches to paid on its own.
- Features can change or go away. We may add, change, limit or remove features, including the beta limits (like builds per month or the number of apps), as we learn what works.
- It may break or be unavailable. There’s no uptime promise. Builds can fail or be slow, and we may pause the service for maintenance.
- Keep your own copies. Keep the original code of every app somewhere else (for example on GitHub or your computer). We work hard not to lose data, but during the beta we can’t promise it.
- We’d love your feedback. If you send ideas or reports, we may use them to improve Phinneas without owing you anything for them.
- The beta can end. When it does, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice and a way to download your data.
3.Your account
You need to be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to make an account. Give a real email address and keep your password and connection keys private. You’re responsible for what happens under your account, including anything your AI tool does with a connection key you gave it. Tell us straight away at support@phinneas.me if you think someone else has access.
You can add one helper to an app. Helpers can do what Phinneas shows them, and you remain responsible for the app.
4.Your apps and your content
You own your apps. Code, files, names, icons and anything else you put into Phinneas stay yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your app, prepare (build) it for the devices you choose, deliver it to the people you share it with, and show it to you and your helper. This permission ends when you delete the app, apart from copies in backups that expire on their normal schedule.
You confirm that you have the right to use everything in your apps, including code an AI wrote for you and any open-source code, and that your apps follow the licences of what they include.
5.Sharing apps with other people
Phinneas is for private sharing: with family, friends, a team or customers you know. You decide who gets a link and who is approved. When you share an app, you are the one offering it to those people, not Phinneas. You’re responsible for:
- what your app does on their devices and what data it collects;
- telling them what they need to know, such as your own privacy notice if your app collects personal data;
- removing people who should no longer have it.
People who install your app through Phinneas don’t need an account. Phinneas only keeps what it needs to deliver and update the app for them (see the Privacy Policy).
6.Things you must not do
Follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In short: no malware, no apps that spy on or trick people, nothing illegal, no attacking or overloading Phinneas, and no using Phinneas to run a public app store.
7.Add-ons and other services
Some features use your own accounts with other companies, such as GitHub, Supabase, Resend or Upstash, or AI tools like Claude, Cursor or Codex. Those services have their own terms, and you’re responsible for your accounts with them. We store the keys you give us encrypted and use them only to run your app.
8.Taking an app down or suspending an account
We may stop sharing an app, pause installs or suspend an account if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law, puts people or the service at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. Anyone can report an app at phinneas.me/report.
You can stop using Phinneas and delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleted accounts can be restored for 14 days; after that they’re gone for good.
9.Our part: no guarantees
Phinneas is provided “as is” and “as available”, especially during the beta. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, or fit for a particular purpose. We don’t check or approve the apps people share, and we’re not responsible for what an app does.
10.Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data or lost goodwill, and our total liability for anything to do with the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (during the free beta, nothing) or ₹5,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as for fraud.
11.Your responsibility to us
If someone makes a claim against us because of your app, your content or your breaking these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, as far as the law allows.
12.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the beta ends or paid plans start. For important changes we’ll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before they apply. If you keep using Phinneas after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
13.Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there. Please write to us first. Most problems can be sorted out by email.
14.Contact and grievances
Questions, complaints or legal notices go to support@phinneas.me. We aim to reply within 7 days and to resolve complaints within 30 days.
